Howdy, New York! Welcome to the Wild Wild East radio, brought to you by co-hosts Nami and Christine~
Our show is an exploratory project on the circulation of musical forms, concepts, technologies, and people in and outward from East Asia. We use music as entry points for meaningful discussion on the role of song and music in cultivating cultural expressions which both perform and negotiate prevailing aesthetics and ideas about “Asianness.” We will trace how consciousness and identity are articulated and reproduced through creation and performance by East Asian artists. Through the commentaries, conversations, and multimedia references we generate through and around the music we play here, we hope to bring about necessary and joyful discoveries for listeners as well as ourselves!
